Law Enforcement and ARPA

Another ARPA money concern.

On page 72 of the document that is to help us interpret the rules and regulations of what the eligible services are that ARPA money can be spent on it talks about spending money on hiring law enforcement officials. That sound like a good thing. There are no details on if there are any strings attached to the hiring of more law enforcement.

It also states - “investing in technology and equipment to allow law enforcement to more efficiently and effectively respond to the rise in gun violence resulting from the pandemic…” Has Idaho had a rise in gun violence resulting from the pandemic? That’s a good question to ask our sheriff.
