Very Biased Books in our local Libraries

Consider attending the Community Library Network’s monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees. April 21st, 2 to 5 pm, Athol Community Center.

There are two books that are on the agenda - Review of Request for Reconsideration

George by Alex Gino and Something Happened in Our Town.

See the screenshots below for details on the books.

Quotes from George by Alex Gino, “Hiding your search history from you mom”, “dirty magazines”, and “all boys are dirty.” These quotes combined with the topic of the book makes this not a book for the children’s section or for display.

Something Happened in Our Town is a very biased and non-factual book. This book is not appropriate for the children’s section or for display.

Per the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights - “Libraries should provide materials and information presenting all points of view on current and historical issues. Materials should not be proscribe or removed because of partisan or doctrinal approval.” Does the library have books that counter the topics in George and Something Happened In Our Town?

I suggest that we email the community library network and asking them remove these books from the children’s section and young adult section of their libraries.
