CDA School District Financial Issues

The Coeur d'Alene School district says that their funding is down due to enrollment decline. They state that, "a decade of lower birth rates, increased housing costs, and an influx of retirees...contribute to fewer students in the district."

I would disagree. According to population data from 2010 to 2022 the 0-4 age group rose 10.3%. It is true that this same group declined as a percentage of total population because more retirees moved in to our area, but the actual number of 0-4 year olds aged kids rose over 10%!

In 2010 the number of 5-19 year olds was 25,132. In 2022 it was 33,114. Perhaps enrollment is declining in the CDA School District due to their policies, curriculum, etc.

The Coeur d'Alene School district got the levy money they asked for last year yet it looks like they will ask for a levy again this year.

Have they done what they said they were going to do? Have you seen them being prudent with taxpayer money?
