"Transparency. A rarity in a political candidate. CLN trustee contender Victoria Bauman is consistently transparent about who she is (a full-time mom), what she believes (conservative values), and what she will do (restore the classics and follow the law). Her opponent, a decades-long entrenched bureaucrat who supports (or fails to decry) far-left causes (evidenced by social media, surveys, donations, and supporters), is well-versed in the political art of dodging and obfuscation.
Example: a claim that CLN’s all-access minor card was “explicitly chosen by 8,906 sets of parents...” Actually, ANY card issued prior to March 16, 2023 (the first implementation of CLN’s Minor Card policy) was an all-access card; there was no other choice. After the new policy was adopted, parents who failed to initiate conversion “chose” an all-access card by default. This is hardly an “explicit choice.”
Furthermore, how many parents who “chose” the all-access card were fully informed of the explicit materials available? I assure you, some of it is so shocking that The Press would never print it. Example 2: Calling the reclassifying of materials “censorship” and a violation of “parental rights.” Actually, for every child that supposedly has “a right” to access explicit content, there are two more that have a right to not stumble upon it by accident. Parents who so choose, may check out questionable materials on their children’s behalf. This is hardly a “violation.”
Idaho voters, when polled, overwhelmingly support HB 710, requiring libraries to protect minors from harmful materials. Victoria Bauman has made it clear that she will stand behind the law, the will of the voters, and the children of our community.
