Taxpayer Money to Daycares in 83814

CDA - Using the Transparent Idaho webpage and the Idaho Child Care Check webpage - I made a spreadsheet of all the licensed daycares in 83814 (Coeur d'Alene). According to the records form 2020 to 2024 - $16,261,308.04 in Trustee and Benefit Payments from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare were paid out. That is an average of $3.2 million per year. Out of the 38 daycares, 22 of then did not take any taxpayer money from 2020 to 2024. (57%) These totals do not include the head start program at North Idaho College.

I have emailed the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and the Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labradors office to ask them to do an audit of 2 daycares. Once took in $563,228.75 from 2020 to 2024. Another took in 364,371.53 in the same period. This needs to be looked at.

As with my previous post on Post Falls daycares, keep in mind that there is no way to filter for daycares that care for disabled children, nor can I see how many children each daycare has.

Also, the Idaho Child Care Check webpage shows the last date of inspection and if there are any violations.
