"...one in five high school students reported having carried a weapon within the past 30 days." I would think that during hunting season in North Idaho, that there would be quite a few teens carrying weapons, while out hunting with family members.
This paragraph in this textbook needs more context, in my opinion. If a teen is carrying a gun while out learning how to shoot or hunt, that is not a bad thing. Having a chapter about learning how to handle a gun safely would be a great addition to this textbook.
"Access to weapons can increase violence." This should be backed up with a footnote to where they got that data.
